In order to enhance mutual understanding, initiate and strengthen collaborations among our member professors, the first Scientific Forum was held by the Association on December 2, 2017. Under the leadership of Professors Jim Hu, Ren-Ke Li, Zhirui Wang and Li Qian with strong support from session co-chairs, a one-day conference was successfully conducted on three key areas including exchange of research background among member professors, explore the possibilities for cooperation between member professors and their Chinese counterparts, and discussion on commercialization of member professors’ achievements in scientific research. More than 50 professors and other related people participated in the conference among which nearly 40 professors were from the University of Toronto and York University.
Counselor Jianlei Shen, the director for Education at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto, attended the welcoming part. He emphasized the significance of the association and wished the association plays a more important role in becoming the bridge for the mutual communication between China and Canada in various scientific fields on behalf of the Consulate General.
The meeting lasted from 9 am to 5 pm with a total of 26 professors introduced their research activities. With the successfulness of the First Scientific Forum, we envision similar partnerships, meetings and conferences in the future.
